Antonio's off field issues?
Okay, we know that Antonio had a poor injury-hit season but he was Hammer of the Year 2016/7. In a couple of reports, I have seen as well as comments on his dip in form ( probably due to injury) there have also been veiled references to off-field issues. Any ideas as to what these might be?

( If these have been mentioned in other threads I apologise for my ignorance)

Re: Antonio's off field issues?
I see... right.. ok...You actually want me to respond to all of your drivel

'Lets choose to forget he picked up a pretty decent squad when he joined' - bilic took over a squad that had won 4 of its previous 24 games. It wasn't, by any means, decent. Like most managers - including MOYES after him - he took over because results under the precious manager were awful.

e'll brush under the carpet the terrible players HE bought, not the ones that were already happening when he arrived" - why would you do that? He bought some awful players. He bought some seriously good ones as well. Obiang was the only deal that was done before he arrived. That saud, it's not worth labouring this point when the basic premise is anyone who was shit was bought by him, anyone good by someone else. It's banal, infantile, and totally incorrect, but there you go.

Are you really denying you're having a pop at Antonio?" Yep, because if you think anything I've said is having a pop at him you're incredibly thin skinned. He's had A 10 year career.
He played zero top flight minutes before he came here. He's had 15-20 good top flight games in a 10 year career. Tjose are factual statements, not 'pops' . In my mind that doesn't warrant two new contracts, and it certainly doesn't warrant parity with someone like Christian Eriksen who has been just about the best attacking midfielder in the league for 3 years, and whose team had finished in the top 3 for three years on the trot. That is, of course, not his fault. He asked, he got.

"I assume you're all for selling Arnautovic now then? He might have peaked! Sell!"
Depends on the player. If he shows any indication that he wants to leave, yes I would. He's currently on 100k a week. He's 29. If it's going to take a long contract on 150-200k per week to keep him, then absolutely I would sell. We have some room having fucked off fonte and ayew but our wage bill is astronomical and if you max that out on one player you're kind of fucked given that even the new manager says we need 4 or 5. If The alternative is to give him s 5 year deal on 200k a week so that we end up with a 34 year old onthat sort of cash then of course I would sell. I would have thought people would have learned lessons from examples like Carroll & Nolan- long contracts, big wages, and once they reach a certain point totally unsaleable because no one will take on the wage liability. It is not complex to understand.

I've asked questions and countered all your rants. No response from you.

You're making a mug of yourself Stewie. I look forward to you skulking off silently in a few minutes time.

Keep wriggling Stewie, you're doing really well.

How about tell me what's so offensive to you about my post? You seem a little upset.

Re: Antonio's off field issues?
Are you all STILL arguing over Bilic? We're now on our second manager since Slav, so maybe it's time for everyone to move on from whether he was/wasn't shit.

As always, the truth was somewhere in the middle.

Re: Antonio's off field issues

Erm... three times in the first 3 paragraphs he talks about what 'the club' want to do... That's the whole point. Sullivan runs the contract talks. This isn't news, so I'm not even sure what you're arguing. You agree our transfer and contract policy is shit, you agree the owners are to blame, you agree that Antonio is overpaid.. so I'm not sure what you're arguing? That the managers have secretly told Sullivan what to do?

I mean, I kind of get the argument if you're saying the owners have a record of bsvking their manager financially ? I agree actually and have said before the accusations of being skinflints is unfair when we have/had the 7th biggest wage bill in the league. They're incompetent, not tight.

I'd like to be Steve P. Absolute gent. Thanks for that.

As for the rest of it, just suns up why no one takes you seriously.

This particular gem is wonderful "Selling at their peak - it's not actually possible to do though is it? You only know when a player has peaked after their peak."... especially coming as it does after accusing others of not being very good with money. It's one of the stupidest things ever written on the internet. Bravo. Mong.

The 27-year-old had already been tied down to a long-team deal, but the new terms will reportedly see his salary climb to £65,000 per week.

"The club and chairman appreciate the job he has done for us," Bilic said. "The club is offering him a new contract definitely, for sure, this summer. He wants to stay.

"To be fair, he has a long contract anyway, it's not like he has one year left, but we appreciate what he has done and we want to keep him happy and keep him for a long time. The club are preparing for that."

Antonio has been sidelined since the 3-2 defeat to Leicester on March 18, his hamstring problem forcing him to withdraw from the England squad for the recent internationals against Germany and Lithuania.

However, he will feature as West Ham attempt to end their four-match losing run when they travel to Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

"Antonio has trained the last couple of days. He is definitely going to be involved in the game, whether he starts or not, we'll see," Bilic said.

"It's a big boost for us because we are talking about our best player. He makes a difference week in and week out. He's been doing that all the time and it's a big boost for us ahead of a game like Arsenal."

OUR BEST PLAYER

My brother? I don't care what anyone else has said. That doesn't change my point of view.

We never failed to meet his wage demands. We gave him a contract. You moaned that the club isn't run well enough to have sold and cashed in, despite the fact we have a manager to decide who is in his squad.

stewie griffin 10:17 Sun Jun 3

If only football was all about stats. Thats the problem with you sky era post 96ers, it's all stats. Lets forget to factor in that Bilic had the most money at his disposal out of any manager we've ever had. Lets choose to forget he picked up a pretty decent squad when he joined. We'll brush under the carpet the terrible players HE bought, not the ones that were already happening when he arrived. Taking these things into consideration I think there's a pretty good argument to say he's one of the worst three in the last 30 years. Obviously he did some funny interviews which won over a lot of mugs and children.

Are you really denying you're having a pop at Antonio? This is all you've done on this thread, you fucking lemon. Apart from that you've pretty much agreed with me and then told me I'm wrong. Good strategy Stewie. Like it.

Selling at their peak - it's not actually possible to do though is it? You only know when a player has peaked after their peak. What you've said is absolute twaddle. I assume you're all for selling Arnautovic now then? He might have peaked! Sell!

Even your insults are borrowed from someone else, much like your arguments. You're the new Steve P. Congrats.

Re: Antonio's off field issues?
Still, it's probably best I leave the final word on contract negotiations to Michail Antonio:

It's about time, eh!

"I'm only joking! I'm over the moon, I've loved my time here and I'm just happy that we have managed to get things sorted so I can move onto next season and do what I've done this season.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new four-year deal. I'd like to thank the Chairman [David Sullivan] because we had a nice little deal for this to get sorted. He's a lovely man and thanks very much!
